Such a small town we live in.....
Yesterday was Halloween as we all know. My kids decided that they wanted to walk around town and see the decorations that people put up. Alex, my son, came home about an hour later saying that things were cool. He didn't get any candy, but he liked seeing others going about it. Samantha, my daughter, decided that she also was going to go around. She came back around 7:30pm, freezing, and tired. She got some candy, but was more interested in the decorations and to study them out so that she could try to draw out what she saw. She talked to some of the home owners about their decorations, how long did it take you to put them out, what is your favorite piece.... She had lots to report. For the last few years, my kids had no interest in going trick or treating, so for them to decided that they wanted to go and look around, was neat for me. At our house, we had one trick or treater banging on the back door. When told that we didn't have any candy, he sounded really upset. Later my sister and my two nieces came over. They were cold, but bouncing off the walls with candy overload. Such fun times!!!!

Earlier in the morning, I was watching tv in my room when the fire alarm went off. It's no big deal, living in town it always goes off. I then started to hear sirens but they went off too soon for comfort. I had to take my dogs outside when I started hearing the quick sirens come and go off again quickly. So I started walking down the driveway and saw my neighbors outside. They said that the house on the corner was on fire. So being concerned, I walked to the corner and saw the house billowing smoke. The fire crew was there and they were busy trying to get inside the house. So I watched. I later talked with one of the crew to ask if they figured out yet how it started. At the time they didn't know, but it was interesting to chat with him. Beings it was about 10:00am, there was quite a bunch of people all standing around watching too. I stood along side and watched too. Then I noticed that everyone standing there was in their pj's too. It was a funny scene. The fire crew had the road blocked off above and below the house fire. There was two older men in a red van that tried to go through the blockade but were turned back by the cops. They weren't happy about it. I don't think they were from this area. They turned back down the hill and went on their way. I then watched some more and came home again. I went back later and was watching their labors when one of the crew asked me if I knew if anyone lived in the house. I told them that some time ago a friend of mine lived there, but that she had moved away, and about a week later there were two older men living there, but that I didn't think they stayed long. The house has been empty for about a month I think. I then asked if they guessed what might have started the fire, they were pretty sure it was an electrical fire.

This house must be over 100 years old. It had solid wood floors and plaster walls. The above stairs had no insulation in it and the beams were exposed, but everything was done in oak. After talking with my mom, she was telling me that we knew two different people whom had the house before my friend had moved in. It brought back some memories of the people.

So that was my Halloween.

This morning I undecorated my Halloween stuff from the house. I have a few Thanksgiving pieces put out. I was thinking, that really I don't have that much Thanksgiving things. I have quite a few Halloween and Christmas, but short on the Thanksgiving. Hmmm, have to fix that.

I think that's it for now....
Till Later
