This morning both Chris and I got to spend the day with my mom. She had to do some shopping both for herself and for Christmas.
We went to Wal-Mart in Cloquet and looked at printers. Mom's printer died and needed to be replaced. We found a nice selection of printers to choose from. A real good friend of mine, John C. answered a intriguing question for us. Mom had told me that she got a message from her printer saying that it needed a memory card to continue printing. She said that one of her relatives had gotten the same message from her printer. I'd never heard of that before. I know printers have their own mother board, but needing a memory card to print??? So we asked John. John is one of those guys, that if its electronic and I don't know the answer to, you ask him. John knows a lot about electronics too. He said that he hadn't heard of that kind of message before. He decided that it was the printers way of saying that it was having problems and could lead to dangerous results if ignored. In mom's case, her old printer's menu window got hot. This could have lead to a fire which could have lead to some serious damage.
So mom picked out another printer and the ink it required. It's a really nice printer and scans both documents and photo's really fast. So much nicer behaving then the old one. After looking and selecting a printer, we continued looking around the store. We went to the fabric's dept. and I got a chance to catch up with one of my friends who works in that dept. After the fabric's dept. we went over to the books and looked around. Some new titles were there, and some of the authors I collect were there. Nothing this time that demanded I take any of them home.... From there we headed over to the Christmas section. I like to walk the Christmas section to get ideas of things to make at home. There were quite a few stocking stuffer ideas to choose from.
After leaving Wal-Mart, mom took Chris and I out to lunch at Wendy's. The meal was great. I was so full when we left.
After lunch we went over to the Family Dollar Store. There were quite a few things that we all thought was really cute. Chris noticed that the dog and cat food was not only cheaper for the good stuff, but comparing the size of the bags and the prices there vs. Wal-mart, we'll be going to get our pet foods at the Family Dollar Store. There were a lot of things to see and think about. Chris and I hadn't been there in a long time so it was even more fun for us to go see the store.
From there we went to the Dollar Store. The Christmas selections there were wonderful. Mom and I started last year getting things to go with the 12 Day's of Christmas song. We found a few things this time that are part of the song. We continued to walk around the store and seeing everything there was to see. It's a neat store too.
From there we came on home. We dropped Chris off at home and mom and I continued on our way to her house. There were a lot of bags in mom's car to bring in. We got them all in and it was time for tea. Tea with mom is fun for me. We each have our favorite teas and while having our tea, we really get to chat. Mom then pointed out that outside the window, their resident 10 point buck (Sam) came to the house. He's beautiful!!! He's got this stride to his walk that show's he knows he's hot stuff and beautiful. While we were having our tea, mom and I worked on getting her new printer hooked up to her computer. After getting the old printer un-installed, and the new installed it was time to play. Mom's old printer wouldn't let her do the things she needed from the computer side, only the printer side. This new printer let her do all the things she needed to do from the computer side. That was a MAJOR improvement from the last printer. She's so excited to do all the things she needs to do. One major pain removed from her life. After a while, my dad came home. He looked really tired, but happy. It must have been a really long day for him again. Later still, my mom and dad brought me home.
Both Chris and I had lots of fun with mom. Hope we get to do so again and more often. Thank you mom for the day and all the fun. I love you!
Till later....
