Ahhhhh. A Professional Domestic Engineer's job is never done.
One might question what that job entails, so I'll put it bluntly..... House Work. That's right, simple house work. Yesterday I got the cleaning bug, so I did all the laundry, made my bed, swept my kitchen and living room, put all my clothes away and thought about making dinner. It's really amazing how my clothes hamper throws a fit when there is nothing inside of it. That being said, as soon as the kids got home from school, I mentioned that I had their clothes sorted and in need of putting away. Then before I knew it, my clothes hamper was throwing a huge party inviting every kind of clothing from their domains to it. Needless to say it was another 3 loads of laundry.
For dinner last night, the kids wanted to have left overs from when Chris cooked. Normally I'm all for it, but I really wanted fried chicken. So to compromise, we had oven fried chicken, and the left over potatoes and cauliflower with cheese sauce. The kids were thrilled. It was pretty yummy and to top it off, there was even left over chicken for Chris when he got home.
Now to figure out what we are going to have tonight. Its a bit chilly, and damp so something hot and stick to your ribs is called for. Maybe I'll make tater tot hot dish. Its easy and a one pot meal. That will make the kids happy because there won't be a ton of dishes to wash.
So whats new.....
Well I've been very busy making Christmas presents. I've got 2 more gifts almost done. Just a bit of work left then they can be put away. The problem is that while I've been working on them, I come up with about a dozen other things I could be doing, but find that I'd rather work on my gifts then do anything else. Hence a movie comes into play. I've had to limit the amount of time I work on my gifts. I do that by movie count. It's kind of weird, but hey it works for me. I put some movie in, (Lately its been all Disney), and will work on my gifts till the movie is over. Then I will put in another movie in and see how many things I can get done with that movie. Needless to say, once you clean all the big things, its a bit harder coming up with enough things to do that aren't gift related till that movie is over.
In a future post, I'll put up pictures of my new floor in the living room. I say new because for the last 8 years or so, we've been living on a sub-floor. Now for a month, we've installed laminate flooring in the living room. It was pretty funny how that came about. Chris and I had been talking about doing the laminate flooring for a long time. Then one morning Chris walked across the sub-floor and got a big sliver in his heel. He then looks to me and growls that we are going to get the flooring RIGHT NOW!!! So we did. Of course it needs to sit in the house for 24-48 hours before installing, but it was home. So my thought of never getting a floor came to an end. It went from wishing we had a new floor, to wow we really have the boxes in the house, to I WANT THE FLOOR IN NOW!!!! Now that's its been in a month, I so love my floor!!!!! Now we are talking about getting the same type of flooring and doing our bedroom. I'll believe that when its in too. However, Chris is really looking forward to doing it. We've looked at the flooring now about 3 times and keep going back to the color and design we have in the living room, to be put in my room.
Sammy just told me that she will have more then enough classes at school to graduate. She only has 3 classes that she needs and the remaining 4 are all electives. She was told that she could do her classes in the mornings and then be home for the rest of the day. Sammy however said that she'd rather be in school just because then she would have to do something. Alex is the same with his classes. On Tuesday next week, we will be reviewing both their schedules and decide if the kids will have a full day at school, or come home after classes are done.
Chris just went to work. He told me that he is expected to have his yearly evaluation completed soon. He's looking forward to seeing how big his next pay raise will be. I am too.
Back to being a Professional Domestic Engineer again. I never realized that a clean house is unhappy. I love the little posts my friends on Face Book put up about how a messy house shows the signs of happiness. I'm finding it hard to want to be inside so much now. We've had some pretty decent weather and long to be outside. If I could just move my stuff outside, then they'd be the cleanest things in the world.
Till later...
