AWE SUMMER AT LAST!!!!!!

Ok, not according to the calender... Today is a wonderful Sunny and warm day. Much better then yesterday. Yesterday wasn't all that sunny nor warm. In fact it was chilly enough that we had to AGAIN turn our furnace on.

This weekend was Spring Fever Days here in Barnum. Saturday was the parade. I didn't walk down to the parade, but Sammy did. She said that the parade was about the same as last year. They had all sorts of events to see. Late last night the street dance was in full swing. I didn't go to it this year. I realized that because I have no interest in drinking, and do not have that many close friends, I don't fit in down there. So this year I just stayed home. When the bands were playing I took in the music while sitting on my porch. They sounded pretty good from here. It was a little hard to hear them outside due to the freeway, so for the most of the music I was listening to them in the house. They played a lot of the songs I knew. Some of the songs were lost on the breeze last night, but from what I could hear it was pretty good.

Each year about this time I spend a lot of time listening from afar. It works for me and sometimes the kids will sit outside and listen with me. Chris of course has to work, so he didn't get to listen. When he came home, the bands were all done. It's ok though, because while he was at work, the casino had a concert so he wasn't totally outta the loop of listening to music.

The next big thing for Barnum is the fair in August. I plan on going to it for at least 1 day. We'll see though. Again with all the music and of course the derby and races, I can hear them from my house so I really don't need to go. I don't mind usually. Its nice to be within about 5 blocks from where all the action takes place. It also makes it handy that if I decide to walk down town, it isn't that far.

I guess another good thing about living where we do, when it comes to the 4 of July, we can walk to the freeway bridge and watch about 7 different places that have fireworks. I would much rather go and see them up close, but like last year, the kids and I walked to the bridge and watched them along with fighting biting insects.

Well its laundry day. I'm just waiting for the washer to finish so that I can get the wet clothes outside on the lines.

Till later....
