Well yesterday afternoon I FINALLY finished sewing this quilt top. It has been in the works for awhile and was then lost in the stuff to someday finish. I had a dream of making this pattern up but during the dream the colors were not shown. I just knew what the pattern was going to be. This quilt is made to fit a queen-sized bed. Right now it just covers the top of my bed. The brown resembles a brown denim and is kind of marbled. The back I've chosen is another brown that is as close to the brown in the blocks I could get. Now I just need to get the batting and finish the quilt entirely. Hmmm, wonder how long it will take to get that. In the meantime, I think it will go back to the world of waiting to be finished....

To everyone, I hope you had a wonderful and beautiful Valentines Day!!
My day started with Chris bringing me coffee in bed. I wasn't quite awake when he did so, however, having that wonderful smell sitting next to you waking up was truly wonderful. Chris then told me Happy Valentines Day and got the kids up for school and the dogs outside.
I knew that I wasn't going to have much of a holiday. Chris had to work today. Normally he's been having Monday and Tuesdays off, but because of Valentines Day, the steak house at the Casino was going to be open. So I did at least get to spend the morning with Chris.
Tomorrow Chris is off, so we are going to have our holiday tomorrow. It's going to be fun I think. Just the two of us till its time for the kids to get home. Then off we'll go as a family. Wonder where we'll go first?
All morning long they've been talking about how people got together. It made me remember how Chris and I got together. "Back in the Day" both Chris and I worked at Hardee's in Cloquet. Chris was the cook, and I was originally hired to work in the kitchen, but also to be a "Birthday Clown" for the parties. I had a costume that tied in the back and was hard to tie. It was a one piece jumpsuit sorta thing. On one particular party I had to do, I had Chris tie the clown suit for me. From then on, every time I had to do a party, he would tie my costume for me. That's how it all started.... After some time, Chris and I would go window shopping. At one store we were looking in, they always have the computers/laptops out to play games in the store and Chris played on one computer and I was on another. I went over to Chris to see what game he was playing and he told me to go away for a sec, that he wasn't ready. When he let me come back, he typed in on the computer, will you marry me? Now here we are 17 years later, and we still play on the store computers and once in a while he'll ask me again.
Till later....

Today seemed like a busy day for me.
It all started with Chris getting his paycheck. He had it setup to be direct deposited, and really it should have been, but it wasn't. For the last few paydays, Chris and I would leave home just after the kids left for school, go to the casino and get his check, put gas in the van, and head off to Wal-mart to do the necessary shopping. Then get home about a half hour before Chris would have to leave for work for the day. It turned out instead that his check was not to be direct deposited. We would have left home to go get his check, but as we looked out the window, it was raining/sleeting/snowing mix. Not road friendly at all. So we stayed home. Chris then left for work early to find his paycheck and to find out why it wasn't direct deposited. After work, Chris went shopping and got a few things for the house. I knew he would, but was kinda hoping that he would have waited till today to do the shopping.
So while Chris was working, Shane from the gas company came to the house to work on my furnace. He's so kind and funny. It took Shane about an hour or so to work on the darn thing. He ended up having to re-wire the entire furnace, put a new board in, with a new fan modulator, and then a new digital thermostat. Shane had pulled out the old board and when shaken, sounded like a rattle. He asked me if I heard it and I said of course. He opened it up and inside the modulator, everything with melted and burnt. Shane said that happened because the furnace was wired wrong. Then he turned over the board and the entire thing was rusted. Shane then put in the digital thermostat. When he removed the old one, he noticed that it was broken inside as well. So with all the work Shane did, I can proudly say that my furnace is FINALLY FIXED!!!! It works so good. If I'm a little bit cold I hit the up button a couple of degrees and if I'm to warm, I hit the down button. The furnace just jumps to it and takes care of me. IT IS SO AWESOME TO FINALLY HAVE A WORKING FURNACE!!!!!
So that leads me to today.
This morning, Tyler (Trailer Park Care Takers) came and read the water meter. He told us that Dave (Land Lord) wanted us to call him. (I could think of a few names, but being a good woman, I won't say them) So after a visit with Tyler, I then called Dave. I told him that as soon as we get our tax returns, that we'd be paying him all that we owe him. He then asked when, and I told him that as soon as the government released the returns, that he'd be getting his cut. He asked me how long that would be and I told him that I have no control over the government releasing funds, so it will take as long as it will take. He then asked me how much my returns were and I told him enough to pay him to current. He then asked AGAIN how long it would take. I AGAIN told him that when they come he'll get his. He then told me that I had to call him this coming Friday or Saturday and tell him when he'll get paid. I told him that if they come, he'll get his. He then said AGAIN how long will that take. (Yes he did ask this numerous times. Like I have any control over that. He should know, he does taxes too!)
Well after that phone call, Chris and I went to Moose Lake and did a bit of shopping and went to the bank. Deposited what was left and came home. Chris then had to leave for work. While gone, I did our taxes online, paid the gas bill and tried to contact GREEN TREE to send them money. The thing with GREEN TREE is that they'll call a billion times throughout the day, but when you try to call them, they are never there!
After trying to get all that done, I felt like I worked 100 hours and never rested during that time. I really felt worn out.
Now its dinner time and we are having spaghetti. Its filling, and hot and there should be lots of left overs. I hope there's lots of left overs. When its just the kids and I, we tend to really eat up. The last time I made it, there was a little sauce and no noodles left. It sure smells good though.
Till Later...

February 2, 2011
Well Pyxatony Phil didn't see his shadow this morning. Supposedly that means Spring is suppose to be sooner rather then later. Chris said that it doesn't matter, according to the calender Spring will be Spring when it gets here. I just like the idea that Phil lets everyone know depending on his shadow.
Today starts the continuing saga of my furnace. Since the last time my furnace was worked on (as I'm sure I've said before) was before Christmas. Since then it will run a cycle, then when the cycle is done it is suppose to shut off and rest before the next cycle. WELL IT DOESN'T!!! It will run a cycle, then as its trying to shut down, the blower kicks back in and the furnace runs again. In about 5 minute intervals, it might run about 11 times before FINALLY shutting down to rest between cycles. Some times there is heat, other times not so much. Last night Chris shut the furnace off with the kill switch because there was no heat at all. So back to getting up every hour to check the oven. I KNOW YOU SHOULD HEAT WITH THE OVEN!!!! We've taken a lot of yelling on that idea from many people. However, when you can't get anyone to fix the darn thing, and its the middle of the night, you do what you have to do. Chris and I have a contract with the gas company to fix the furnace for $10/month. Its great, however when the cash assistance help we were getting didn't pay the bill and contract fee, they won't come to the house. So I have to have cash to pay the contract for both the prior month and the current. Chris gets paid on Friday, so we should be able to take care of the gas bill and contract and FINALLY? get the darn thing fixed. Maybe even fixed right, so that our soap opera of furnace trouble will be over.... Gee, just the idea of having a fixed furnace stay fixed till this summer or later would be similar to Christmas presents.
As for my other projects I've got going, things are progressing quite well. More details to come....
