New Projects

Here is another new project I've just finished. This snowman door knob hanger has a black top hat, with greenery and a red berry. On the cheeks there is light pink heart shape. The scarf is Christmas red and green.
Thought this was cute too, so had to add it to my project completed list....

Good Morning 1/28/11

Took the dogs outside at 9:30 this morning, and this was this morning's guest at my house. Isn't it beautiful!!!!

New Projects

I thought that this was cute. Its a door knob hanger. So I made one up. Its done on plastic canvas. I just need to get a couple of small jingle bells to hang from the ears and a green bow for the neck and its complete.

Block of the month February 2011

Here is my block for the month of February. In this block, I used the fabrics that I'd used in my round on the Round Robbin Quilt project. The center block on this one is white because in the Round Robbin Quilt, that was the starter block. It is 12" square. I had decided that if at all possible I would try to create the same pattern that was used on the Round Robbin Quilt, but if not, try to come up with something similar. Fun isn't it?

Block of the month January 2011

As I have been working on the Round Robbin Quilts project, I decided that I would make a couple of blocks from the fabrics I've used in that project. Because this was my center block from my Round Robin quilt, I made up a couple more to start my own Block of the Month. The plan is to make each block 12" square. I think this will be an interesting project for me to do as well.

Round Robbin Quilt #2

While deciding what to do for the first Round Robbin Quilt, I decided that I'd start one of my own. This block was one of a bunch of ideas I had for my own quilt. Its a combination of a Windmill and flying geese patterns. I saw it in a craft magazine and right away I knew what colors I was going to make it with. Something wild, fun, alive, and active is how I would describe it. So after finishing it, I sent it off to have another wonderful crafter put a round on it...

Here it is with the "Second Round" added to it...

The wonderful crafter added so much to my block. The blue behind the block is my curtain that I use to study out quilt pieces and blocks....
The interior frame really sets off my center block. It really focuses the eye to notice that first. The borders are a yellow with a tan-ish color added for a design. The blues having been sewn in that way also aid the eyes to see the center block. I just can't get over how imaginative the crafter was..
Well its now my turn to add the next round, and with many ideas once again running through my head, I can't decide what the next round is going to be yet.....

Round Robbin Quilt

I have the honor of participating in making a Round Robbin Quilt. I've not had the chance before so this project is extremely exciting for me.
This was the block I was given. I felt that it was country-ish, fragile, warm and cozy. It "talked" to me in a variety of next round designs. After studying out this block with all the possible ideas running through my head, I then rushed to draw it out on paper before starting my round.

Here is my round, "The Second Round" on the block given to me...

This round became a family project. When I saw the block, the first thing I saw was that it needed some new colors introduced. The block was screaming at me to find a blue with flowers in it. I took the block to a fabric store and literally threw it on the bolts of fabric there. I picked out this blue material with white flowers, Chris picked out the pink and green, Alex said that it needed to have white in it and Sammy said that it should have "diamond" patterns around it. So indeed, my family and I all had a part in putting our selections into it. The picture makes it a bit darker as shown here, but in "real-life" the colors are not so bold.

I sent it off and now anxiously await the return. I wonder what it will look like....

January 25, 2011

I'm BACK!!!!!

Wow, so many good things have happened to us. Thank you to everyone that sent prayers our way.

For starters, Chris has been working at Black Bear Casino now since Dec. 21st. He's a cook in the Steak house and so far has been enjoying it. There are some days that are really slow, and then there are other days that are so busy, that the kitchen gets cleaned out of food stuffs. Needless to say, Chris is glad to be back and working full time again. Each day that he works, the kids and I give a run down of things to be careful about: cuts, burns, falls, driving, etc. Its pretty funny but the kids feel that if they don't give him a run down of things not to do, then something bad will happen...

On Dec. 18th, our furnace was once again worked on and has been doing its thing without anymore calls to have it repaired. Its not perfect yet, but at least there's heat. It was a very cold two weeks with the house sitting at 62 degrees most of the day. Thank goodness my oven kept us going. I know you aren't supposed to use the oven to heat the house, but we did. Needless to say here, we got a stern talking too from the fix it guy, and the gas company. We didn't have to get a new furnace, because every part that could be replaced did with the exception of one part. We now feel that that one part is the trouble maker to having our furnace being perfect. As soon as we get some more money and things continue to go well, we'll call the gas company and they'll come and fix it for us.

We went to the Human Services Dept. and asked for cash assistance help. After going through all the loop holes to qualify for that, we have received help. For 4 months, they are vending out the cash assistance out to pay for the current charges of: power, gas, lot rent and the house payment. We still have to pay the past due, but at least we won't be behind again.

Chris has been getting regular paychecks now. It's such a relief!!! So as the money comes in, I can get our bills paid. In the meantime, its times for taxes. I worked on that today and now have to pay the bill for doing them online. It's not expensive, the last time we had someone else do them (H&R Block), it cost us over $300. So for the last few years I've been doing them myself. Its easy, just a lot of reading.

So in a nutshell that brings us up to today. This morning we got our internet, cable tv, and a phone setup and running. It is so awesome to be back online and have the tv on. We've watched again all our movies and stuff for the last month that it was getting to the point that we didn't even have the tv on anymore. Now we can say with all the channels we now have, there's nothing on tv....

I just noticed that a month ago today was Christmas. We had such a good Christmas. I asked the kids what they thought of Christmas this year and they both said that it was just perfect. They had a few gifts at home, and spending the day over at grandma's was so much fun this year.

Till Later....
